Dirk Quinn Band

Dirk Quinn is a Philadelphia based guitarist who has utilized nearly a decade of steady performing to develop a unique and progressive style – one that sits somewhere between jazz, funk and rock.

Surrounding himself with a group of extremely talented and like-minded musicians, Dirk Quinn has been playing shows up and down the east coast while receiving an ever increasing amount of media attention. His music has now been featured on over 80 radio stations worldwide and gets daily spins in his hometown of Philadelphia. Quinn and the band have also performed live numerous times on Fox 45′s morning show in Baltimore and have had the great pleasure of guesting on Gene Shay’s Sunday night radio show on WXPN and Jeff Duperon’s “Straight Ahead” jazz program on WRTI.

The band’s high energy and musical interplay routinely attract listeners that are admittedly more accustomed to lyric-based music. With great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an accessible modern edge, the Dirk Quinn Band is jazz/funk improvisation at its most exciting!

Codename

Codename’s songs are a fusion of tightly composed, high-energy progressive-rock arrangements, complimented by jazzy harmonies and funked out dance grooves. Their show is a true experience. The soulful connection is apparent between Adam Nash (keys/piano), Jon Joffe (guitar), Greg Halbkram (bass), and Sal Galati (drums/percussion), as their chemistry both on and off the stage combines unique energy, vision, and sense of adventure that all goes into the jazz-infused blast of funk rock that is Codename. Among their influences are The Grateful Dead and Phish, Herbie Hancock, John Scofield and Medeski Martin & Wood, Pink Floyd, Yes, Soulive and The Allman Brothers.

The Rozatones

The Rozatones, crowned rulers of Ithaca’s live music scene, have you in their sights. You can resist, but usually one or two songs are all it takes to claim a new fan. 2007′s Taste So Good was voted “Best funk rock album of the year” by the Ithaca Times, and 2009′s Body On The Move is the breakout album the band needed. They’ve appeared twice on Good Morning America, opened for Soulive at Ithaca’s State Theater, and played tour dates through the Knitting Factory and countless festivals – all prior to graduating college. Clearly, The Rozatones are just getting started. It’s the music. The band serves up funk and rock in the finest tradition of Jamiroquai, No Doubt and the Chili Peppers, and flavors their songs with jazz, bossa, blues, or any morsel of musical goodness that suits the song. This could be said of lots of emerging bands in America; the difference here is the musicianship and exquisite judgment the band uses. Blending genres is one thing. Blending them into danceable, sing-along-able songs that are stuck in your head for weeks at a time is The Rozatones’ specialty. It’s likely that the sweaty, dancing kids at the band’s hometown shows have no idea how good they have it.
